Michael Chan EVP, Business Development & Marketing President, Subsystems

Michael Chan serves a dual role at Opnext, Inc. He is Executive Vice President (EVP) for business development and marketing and serves as the President of the Opnext Subsystems Business Unit, a role which he assumed in April, 2009. Prior to that, Mr. Chan was EVP of business development, marketing, strategy and product portfolio management. Before joining Opnext in 2001, Mr. Chan spent more than 18 years with Lucent Technologies, AT&T and Bell Laboratories, where he rose to be an officer at Lucent. Mr. Chan's last position at Lucent was as chief strategy officer for the Optical Networking Group in 2000. From 1999 to 2000, Mr. Chan was chairman and president, Lucent China. Other executive positions held by Mr. Chan include: VP in global marketing for the optical business; president and COO, Lucent China; VP for global SDH product management. During his career, Mr. Chan worked and lived outside the U.S. at various times in Japan, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, and China.
