Opnext is committed to conducting its business in an ethical, socially responsible and environmentally sustainable manner. We are committed to minimizing our environmental impact throughout the business for all products and processes.  Our approach is guided by an Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) Policy.

Compliance

We conduct our business while reliably and efficiently complying with all applicable domestic and foreign environmental requirements. Opnext products are compliant with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) 2002/95/EC, established by the European Union.  Formal EH&S programs are maintained at our manufacturing locations, and a comprehensive RoHS Engineering Program is in place to ensure compliance.

In addition, Opnext’s manufacturing sites in Japan are ISO 14001 compliant.  ISO 14001 is a voluntary international standard and registration is recognized internationally as demonstration that a company is effective in managing its impact on the environment.  The registration is granted by third party reviewers under guidelines administered by International Organization for Standardization.  The standard is consistent with the concept of sustainable development and stresses continual improvement.

Opnext continues to achieve great milestones in reducing our environmental footprint by identifying recycling opportunities, setting objectives and meeting goals relating to all aspects of our business, from office spaces to factory floors.

Opnext ensures that all employees are aware of their role and responsibility to fulfill and sustain Opnext’s EH&S policy. 

We believe our company must work with employees, suppliers, partners, customers and community organizations to protect and enhance health, safety and the environment.
