Opnext is a global supplier of high-performance optical components, including high power lasers, laser diode modules, transmitters and receivers, XENPAK modules, optical transceivers and optical transponders (SerDes transceivers). Formed out of Hitachi, Opnext brings over 30 years experience to the design, development and manufacture of high-performance components and subsystems that power today's access communications, backbone, metro, information and industrial markets.
Q: What is the Opnext relationship with Hitachi? A: Opnext was formed out of the Fiber Optic Components business unit of Hitachi. From the beginning, Opnext received wide access to Hitachi's large Central Research Laboratories (CRL), Mechanical Engineering Research Laboratories (MERL), and Production Engineering Research Laboratories (PERL) in Tokyo, Japan.
Q: What Multi Source Agreements (MSA) is Opnext a member? A: Opnext leads the industry in the manufacture and development of advanced pluggable modules. We were a founding member of the X2, XENPAK and 300 pin transceiver MSA organizations. We brought the industry's first MSA compliant SerDes transceiver (transponder) to market in 1999.
